PUBLIC STORIES

EVOAUTISM Public Stories is an editorial series about autistic people and the different ways they live, create, communicate, work, participate, and experience the world.

Talent and achievement may be part of a story. Our editorial focus is broader: what matters to the person, what has been difficult, where their strengths and interests lie, who or what has helped, what became possible, and what may still be difficult today.

The questions that guide our stories include:

Who am I?
What has been difficult?
What are my strengths / interests?
What or who helped?
What became possible?
What is still difficult today?
What do I want people to understand about me?

These questions are an editorial framework, not every story addresses every question. Each story follows the experiences and information available.

Some Public Stories are developed directly with the people featured. In those cases, participants decide what they want represented, can review and correct the material, and approve how their story is presented.

Other Public Stories are editorial profiles based on publicly available interviews, talks, autobiographical accounts, and other published materials.

Whenever possible, we want the people featured to become part of the process themselves. If you recognize yourself in one of these stories, we would genuinely love to hear from you - to review, correct, add to, or reshape the material, and, if you wish, to explore participating in Autism Through Talent.
